What's on at PYC Pilmeny Primary 1 Club The PYC are pleased to announce we have secured funding which allows us to extend our out of school clubs programme. The Pilmeny Primary 1 Club will cater to children just starting school and act as a gateway to the rest of our exciting programme. Sessions start Monday 14th November. To join, or for further details, please call us on 554 0953 or email us on pilmenycentre@freezone.co.uk Pilmeny Mini Club Returns The Tuesday and Thursday Out of School Clubs (Pilmeny Mini Club) are back in business. Funding has been generously awarded by the Gannochy Trust to re-establish the project until June 2012. Children who were regular attendees at our previous OOSC will have places automatically reserved for the new sessions and parents will be notified very soon. First session, and opening date for the restart, is Tuesday 20 September. Limited places will be available and further details can be obtained by calling the youth centre or by email on pilmenycentre@freezone.co.uk
View Our Activity Programme The Two Pilmenys The Pilmeny Youth Centre and Pilmeny Development Project have been providing community services in the Leith Walk Ward (from London Road to foot of Easter Road & from Ferry Road to top of Leith Walk) for over 30 years! Although separate organisations with our own registration and charity numbers the two Pilmeny’s work in partnership to provide the best service available for the local area. In regards to youth services both organisations are responsible for a number of independent groups as well as groups that clearly evidence the long standing partnership. Well attended groups for young people meet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening, with sessions for 5– 8 year olds held every afternoon, except Mondays, with a strong sporting and energetic activity theme. 75% of our programme work with children and young people is dependent on outside funding sources, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find funds to sustain the quality provision the community has come to expect. Still, its an ongoing priority for the PYC to investigate and identify possible funding sources for sustaining our successful projects, and we will continue to vigorously address the issue, even if it does sometimes feel like rolling a snowball up a hill, the community of the Leith Walk ward deserves nothing less. Our thanks to the following funding agencies and trusts for their support in 2010—2011. We couldn’t have done it without you!
