Pilmeny Youth Centre - Pilmeny Music Project




PYC Music Project Funded By Thanks to funding from The Moffat Charitable Trust, The Cruden Foundation and The Ernest Cook Trust, the Pilmeny Youth Centre were able to continue our already successful Music Project for children. In response to suggestions from parents, who found it difficult to source musical instrument tuition, the group was formed to provide group tuition for children aged 8-11 years. Guitar, Keyboard and Drums, among other instruments, were available to children from beginners to competent musician skill levels. Funding obtained allowed us to continue this provision, providing tuition to learners both current and new, as well as allowing learners the opportunity to build on their existing knowledge and explore a number of music activities. Alternatively, you can call the PYC on 0131 554 0953 or email craig@pilmeny.co.uk PYC Music Project Performance Highlights 8 Bar Compositions As part of our sessions, the young people were encouraged to explore how songs were formed in terms of rhythm, tonality and structure. Combining their knowledge of music theory and personal tastes they devised 8 bars including a chord sequence, melody, bass line and percussion.
