Friday Afternoon Zone (FAZ) continues to run on Fridays 2:30-4pm. With an emphasis on developing interpersonal skills and relationships, the project offers a range of activities to those in S2-S3. Our Friday evening drop in sessions continue to run Fridays 5-6:30pm. Aimed at those in S1 and above who are at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour, the project provides a safe space in which young people can engage in sports, games and issue based discussions and workshops. Sessions are free and young people can attend on a drop-in basis with no referral required. Our Monday music sessions run 4-5:30pm and provide young people with the opportunity to develop skills to play music together, alongside receiving tuition on a 1-1 basis and in small groups. Now running on Wednesdays 3:30pm-5pm, we will be facilitating girls-only sports sessions for those in classes P5-7. The project to engage girls in sporting and physical activity to promote healthy lifestyles. By holding girls only sessions we hope to address the gender gap in female participation in sports and create an environment in which girls and young women feel confident to get active and engage in sporting activity. PYC is partnering with local club Redpath Albion to offer fun football for local children every Friday. The project aims to re-engage children in the to local community who wish to enjoy football participation at grassroots level.
The academy has got off to a flying start with 14 children attending our 6pm to 7pm session and 10 enjoying the 7pm - 8pm session. We can still offer spaces for boys and girls at both sessions. Check our flyer for details.
