Combat Arts Scotland is a new group holding sessions at Pilmeny each Thursday from 6:30pm to 9pm. Martial Arts and Self Defence tuition is offered to anyone over 16 in the local community

Leith Open Spaces Project is a new initiative taking place each Monday evening at Pilmeny from 6:3pm - 8:30pm
Run in conjunction with the Police Neighbourhood Action Teams, Port of Leith Housing Association, Citadel and Pilmeny Youth Centres', the project is a drop-in for local young people, aged 13 - 16. Since starting in January 2008 weekly attendances have averaged between 23 to 32. The project will run until June 2008, with funding possibly becoming available to continue from August 08 to December of this year.

The Pilmeny is delighted to announce that we have successfully applied to Sport Relief for a grant to facilitate twice weekly after school clubs' for children aged 5, 6, and 7 years. The grant will enable Pilmeny to offer sports/games etc with local children each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45pm to 4:45pm. These sessions are aimed at children from our two local primary schools and will promote healthy lifestyles via sports and games.
Commencing n June 2008, the sessions will be spread over 40 weeks ending in April/May 2009.

"Future Heads" is a new project which begins at the youth centre in May 2008 and is a tri-partnership initiative between the Police Neighbourhood Action Team, Citadel Youth Centre and Pilmeny
Targeting local young people who are currently not in employment or education the, sessions will be a drop-in facility, 12:30pm - 2;30pm, for young people to discuss career opportunities and welfare issues. A light snack/lunch will be provided free of charge

Due to the success of the Junior Club we now have a waiting list. Any parent/carer who wishes information on how to join should contact the centre via email, or pop to the centre any Tuesday during term time and speak to our youth development worker Colin Webster or any of his staff team.

Junior and Senior club members have initiated a project to cultivate the centre newly built Urban garden. A number of pots and planters are being installed and the plants and bulbs now in place will hopefully bloom throughout the summer.

Senior Club members have been hard at work constructing a YouTube site.

The Pilmeny Youth Centre bid farewell to long serving Chairman Nick Gardner who stood down at the recent AGM. Nick has been a stalwart of the centre for some 20 years as youth worker, then as a management committee member, and then went on to be elected Chairman in 1996.
At our recent board of directors meeting Ms Mary Hastie was elected as our new youth centre chairperson

R.A.M.S.A. Soccer 4s

Redpath Albion Sports Club are opening a new football coaching initiative in June aimed at local Primary 1,2 and 3 children.
Based on the new SFA Soccer 4s coaching model the club will run hourly sessions each week on Friday evening's from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Outdoor sessions are planned to be held at the newly refurbished Dalmeny Street Park (Green site, Iona St end) or within the Pilmeny during wet weather.
Under the tuition of 3 SFA Qualified club coaches, Albion aim to adopt the old 'street football' ethic and get back to making football fun again. As an introduction to football at an entry level, local children aged 5,6 and 7yrs will have the opportunity to sample the beautiful game.
